Website: www.ptc.edu  Piedmont Technical College is part of the South
Carolina Technical College System. Opened in 1966, it serves Greenwood, Abbeville, Edgefield, Laurens,
McCormick, Newberry, and Saluda counties with comprehensive academic programs,
offering its students more than 70 degree, diploma, or certificate
programs. Aside from the main
campus, the College has established county centers to serve student populations
at those local settings. Many
course offering are made available through the South Carolina Educational TV
Network and the college’s own educational network (PEN). In 2006, on its fortieth anniversary, the College opened its Creative Economies Center to house its
newly established Professional Pottery Program. It is hoped this program will be the first of several
craft-related curriculums to come to the Edgefield campus.
